Dusseldorf, the regional capital of Nordrhein -Westfalia is a happening
spot overflowing with cultural attractions, shopping, fairs as well
as a wide range of media and service industries. To dine in Dusseldorf,
one can choose from the many international choices that the city
provides. From sumptuous Oriental dishes like Sushi and Peking Duck,
to local dishes like pork ribs in mustard sauce, one can pick and
choose from a wide choice of international and local cuisine.
Make sure you visit one of the breweries or even the traditional
taverns like Fuchschen, Zum Urige, En De Canon, and Zum Schiffchen,
which are located in the narrow area of the Old Town, which form
the nerve centre of the city. Savour the Rhineland ambience as one
melts comfortably into their wooden seats while the blue frocked
waitresses serve the dark aromatic Altbier along with some hearty
traditional food. The traditional food has a real German menu from
the local Harz mountains and can be quite a mouthful. Its advisable
to see the translated English menu before one indulges into a bowl
of creamy pea soup or bites into a pigs blood sausage made of freshly
slaughtered meat and a dash of onions. This is great food after
a load of pints out with good company and sure it will put hairs
on your chest!
In winter, the Rheinlander natives try out large plates of mussels
in onion sauce to warm themselves up. A traditional Seafood restaurant
known as Benders Marie is one of the oldest mussel restaurants in
Dusseldorf and they have come up with 20 ways of preparing them.
