Xanten City
September 12th, 2006A city close to Düsseldorf, which is well worth a visit, is the historic and beautiful Xanten. This is one of the oldest cities in Germany and it boasts numerous fascinating historical landmarks and museums. The city was founded by Roman Emperor Trajan close to AD 100. The interesting Archaeological Park offers visitors a glimpse through the city’s history, while the beautifully restored city centre is well worth exploring. One of the most impressive areas in Xanten is Altstadt, which boasts the stunning Dom St Viktor, built in both Romanesque and Gothic styles.
